Deidre Smith

This is one of my all time favorite books. I read it every couple of years and NEVER fail to become lost in the beauty and tragedy of this wonderful epic. I've loved this book since the first time I read it when it was first published. An absolutely wonderful novel.

I enjoyed this book except for the fact that the main character promised to take the deceased's cat home and then not another word was written about it..I felt let down by the author's use of a beloved pet as nothing more than a "prop". I finished reading the book, hoping to find that some one agreed to adopt the poor baby... but it didn't happen. I will NEVER read another of her books because of this oversight. POOR FORM.
