Meh. I hadn’t read the book, but I could tell there was soooo much that was being left out. I didn’t like that they made huge time jumps in the blink of an eye and I just had to accept it (like how long was Kelly in the hospital? How long did it take to recover? How’s he get from point A to B? If you ask, you’ll get confused, so you just have to accept the reality being offered. The “wokeness” was also pretty forced. So was the diversity since the character development wasn’t good enough to make me care about their bond. I was really wanting to enjoy Kelly and Greer as main characters, because it’s not often you get a movie like this with two main black characters (and it’s not a movie specifically about black people in some way)... but there was just too little character development and some bad scripting choices. Anyhoo... way overhyped. Still love Michael B though ✌🏾

Great show? Maybe not, but certainly entertaining and I actually enjoyed the casting quite a bit! Brad and Mallory are great and I'm totally digging the relationship building between Ali and Chan. I also think it's refreshing to see a non-typical African-American female character that I can relate to more... how she loves K-Pop and Anime but isn't ashamed of it one bit. She's also strong and confident, yet still trying to figure things out. I didn't even know this show was coming out, so maybe I enjoyed it because I had no expectations and was just pleasantly surprised to see it pop as a new series to watch. I'm definitely looking forward to see the second season, so I can see what happens with my favorite characters. :) I give this a solid 3.5, but I'll go ahead and round up to 4, cause k-pop and anime. :P
