(Spoilers warning)
It was ok, but it was made under an aged format within the superhero style of cinema. This would have been good 10+ years ago but the genre has evolved so much over time that this just felt old and within recycled formats...
Too many convenient plot points or purposeful delays in actions by villains which lined up well for outcomes, but would never hold true for good character development or realistic choices. The motives and actions of everyone just seemed small minded and reused from a million other storylines ("escape then get revenge on 2 people and a building because my past was bad"). Further it was built with very little edge, as if trying to be cool for teenagers without crossing any lines.
A once and done arch for the main bad guy (consistent of older movies without universe building) was really disappointing and disrespectful to this particular character.
Some awful outfit and hairstyle choices that may be linked to comic versions (I'm not sure tbh) but looked really cheesy on screen, distracting even. Underutilization of top talent actors (similar to Venom 1 as Riz Ahmed was not used to full potential there either).
Less than ideal graphics for 2021 (most noticeable with the symbiotes "arms" or goo stuff). Seemed unpolished.
Overall it's fun, it's entertaining, it's funny in parts, but it's not to the level it should be and lacks soul for the project/characters. It's digestible, safe, and forgettable... like many Sony movies.
