It was very very pretty. As an avid fan of the books, I couldn't believe how boring the characters are (the young lady playing Lyra is some of the worst acting I've ever seen.) I think I'm old fashioned because i don't understand the need to change the story and plot of a book that's extremely well-loved. And goodness gracious, the voice of Iorek is just comically awful. It sounds like they auto tuned a child trying to do a mean adult voice. It's unbearable to listen to. And Sam Elliott was fantastic in the 2007 movie as the Texan, Lee Scorsby. In what universe is Lin Manuel Miranda "sardonic"? He plays the character like Nathan Lane in Guys and Dolls. Like a street-savy grifter in New York with a heart of gold. It's almost unwatchable. This series was a damn shame, but the effects were really great. They brought a world to life in an extraordinary way, and then populated it with people you wouldn't give a second glance. In the book, the witches can make themselves "unnoticed". Maybe they worked the same magic on the cast before hand.
