I could write a 10,000 word essay about this album and the band that recorded it, however I will keep it succinct.
I have an extremely eclectic taste in music, yet in my very biased opinion, if you want to hear Rock n Roll played ' properly ' then there is only one band that can deliver it to you, and that is STATUS QUO!!
After 10 years of playing together in STATUS QUO, Alan, John, Rick and Francis produced the best and greatest LIVE Rock album of all time.
Though not if you ask Francis Rossi, he would disagree.
If Francis didn't play Guitar and sing in Status Quo, he would be one of the most non-QUO people on the Planet.
Rick Parfitt said the album gives him goosebumps.
Alan Lancaster opens the gig with Junior's Wailing, Backwater/Just Take Me and Is There A Better Way. He growls his way through the first four songs and he closes the gig by belting out Bye Bye Johnny.
The track listing and choice of songs is very professionally selected.
Disc1 closes with a 16 3/4 minute thumpin' version of 4500 Times which proves that QUO are very creative and not lamebrains.
Disc 2 starts with quintessential QUO smashing out Roll Over Lay Down which segues into Big Fat Mama and Don't Waste My Time from Piledriver.
Francis makes his Lead Guitar sing sweetly as the boys crash and bang and thud behind him.
It is evident on this album that QUO have one of the best Drummers in Rock history, John Coghlan and the best and greatest Rhythm Guitarist of all time in Rick Parfitt.
Roadhouse Blues appears to go for 1/2 an hour involving the crowd in their Irish Jigs and nobody does the Irish Jig quite like QUO.
Quo fans are very grateful to The Doors for writing the song and giving QUO the opportunity to show how it was meant to be played.
Lancasters' vocals are very tough and manly.
The Encore closes the concert with a fan favourite Caroline, listen to the crowd hysteria when they recognise the tune is Caroline.
Coghlan performs a Drum solo to showcase his skills, he is an excellent Drummer.
To close the concert QUO pulverise their way through Bye bye Johnny.
Rossi's banter with the crowd is what separates QUO from other bands.
The crowd feel involved and a part of the concert.
There is no fan like a QUO fan and there is no band as unique as the mighty QUO.
In 1977, the year that this LIVE album was released, Johnny Rotten said " I like The Ramones, but I like Status Quo even more! "
