TLDR: Just watch a let’s play.
The gameplay is garbage. The game teaches you to swap between tools and sci-fi accessories.. not that you’ll ever need it, because all you have to do is press one prompt button and it will automatically start using the tool you need. You’re just pressing one button on repeat and searching for more prompts … on repeat. I can be forgiving that some of my prompts were glitchy (it’s a new game!), but the fault it in the design of consecutive prompts, you cannot progress without first completing the previous prompt.
I cannot really explore or find one clue before the next, i am stuck on a linear track, which is an awful feeling to play for a game centralized on investigating/finding clues.
The other huge problem I have is this fake immersion of time pressure. The feds are coming, you’re sick and dying, you have to be quick! It’s a plot illusion that doesn’t incentivize me to investigate or play the game; where I am later punished as a player by having limited options for not exploring enough!
There are concepts in this neo-noir world that are pulled off successfully, a really gruesome idea of immortality, excellent models and objects scattered around the world that reinforce the morbid reality of living in a dystopian NYC . The successes unfortunately seem to hi-light the failures, by giving you a little touch of what this game should have been.
There are multiple endings and consequences to your choices, however, I won’t be replaying I’ll be watching a supercut of different choices on YouTube rather than putting myself through the gameplay again.
