This is not Foundation. It's certainly something, but there is almost nothing of Asimov's brilliance here. This makes me sad. I read his books in my teens and into my twenties, and my love for film and storytelling had me hoping I would someday see his works come to screen. I still hope that happens someday. Two stars for the great actors and sets/special effects. But that is all.

Excellent presentation; a quiet desperation in an end-of-the-world film that offers some great camera work, direction, and special effects. The actors do their best with the story they've been given, and all do a good job in bringing believability to their roles. The story, however, is weak, and the addition of 'dangerous' events come across as improbable, even artificial. These are so glaring that they took me completely out of the story. What could have been a memorable movie for it's performances instead sticks in my mind as one ruined by the ridiculous.
