Total bait and switch. Started out as a fascinating look into the life of a archetypal hustler, and ended up as a lionization of a bogus hero. Such was the power of this person to charm and hoodwink that, decades later, there are still people who appear to be caught up in "their" spell. Liz Carmichael may have genuinely been transgender, but the trials and tribulations in her life were primarily brought on by her own criminal behavior. And playing the trans card to make herself out to be a persecuted victim was just another part of her con, a con that has been perpetuated by the trickery and dishonesty of the filmmakers. Having watched this in good faith, I feel cheated, by the spirit of Liz Carmichael.
