The Del Toro Hellboy collection are two of my favorite movies, the gentle combination of horror and sc-fi creatures that are truly breathtaking, mixed with a great story and plenty of action and humor make the original 2 something very special.
I was dissapointed to see the 2019 was under a new director and cast but I was willing to give it a try. From the opening scene I was bombarded at breakneck speed by a plot I could hardly keep up with and cringeworthy Gore. If any of the CGI creatures had kept still long enough for me to get a look at them, I may have been able to appreciate them as I did Del Toros but alas like the story line they were gone in the blink of an eye.
I found the acting simply painful and I love Ian McShane but all I did throughout the movie was wonder how he ended up in such a deplorable movie.
I hope whoever decided to go with this director and cast apologize to Mignola, Del Toro and Perlman for ruining a creatively beautiful legacy, which was too recent to even warrant a remake.
