Although this relates to the work I have always done and to my own writing, I watched it with the same wonder at what humanity has achieved as I did when I began my work. The film combines excellent film clips of what actually occurred at NASA and of the steps taken to explore outer space. What I would like viewers to get from this film is the realization of two things: 1. How important it is to have a management plan for the use of space before the interest of countries and the competing commercial claims clash and we end up with the same conflicts we have on earth. Now is the time to use the Outer Space Treaty as a basis and develop cooperative rules for the future. and 2. That outer space surrounds all countries and the ban on national appropriation, although it needs to be clarified, is important for the protection and rights of all earth's people.
Note: I noticed that the one woman who spoke in the film was not identified although the men were. Although in lesser numbers, women also had important roles to play in the beginnings of the space age and it should be acknowledged.
