Good character portrayal by M Mikkelson. Editing out some of scenes on the heath may have been a good idea. Women developed their roles. Men quite static really. Bad vs sad was about it. Would not view again. Sumptuous and occassionally amusing scenes and dialogue but quite a sad film in its brutality and in portrayal of virtual slavery of the minorities to the powerful and venal sadistic and cruel manipulators.

Over hyped. Strong female lead well played. Spouse had however a very weak character and inane dialogue. Villain was obvious. Felt film needed editing. Not very credible ending.

Absorbing, genuinely enthralling, fun, joyous, empathic journey into diverse lives. Great songs, lively and weĺl-choreographed dance routines and an appealing cast, who suit their roles. Some bravura singing.

Rickman is always a nuanced delight, Kate Winslet plays strong, intelligent, spirited woman roles with natural ability and supporting cast were satisfying.
