The Birdbox isn’t super out there, it isn’t crazy amazing, it barely touches the fine level, but it was satisfying to watch in general. To understand the movie and enjoy it to your full extent you have to take out all logical criticism, this movie isn’t meant to be logical. Of course it would be a better movie if they had some logical thought into the actions of the characters and plot, and with this lack gives it poorer reviews. I understand why people wouldn’t enjoy this movie but I liked it. Some say this movie’s action is terrible. This isnt true. This movie had suspenseful moments and other times the shock wasn’t there, but in general this movie provides the viewer with what you want. Thrillers are not horrors. Thrillers are logical while horrors or not, this is why the action in this film can seem strange and off place. The ending truly shines offering a plot twist and a side of the story some viewers may not think of. It didn’t scare me, but it sure did make me lean forward. A lot put criticism on the characters, mostly the main character. I thought character development worked well actually, which is hard to believe. The main character wasn’t thrown under the bus, she seemed set up and well demonstrated, fighting for her kids’ lives. In the end her emotional development kicked in and her full potential was restored, but throughout the movie I saw the negatives and positives of the character. 7.3/10
