The Silver Key is a out standing book, worthy of being the sequel of the last two books. The way the authors build the world further then they did in The Copper Gauntlet with the explanation into what the devoured are, along with the true villains starting to show who they they are. It rounds it all off at the end when the story takes a tragic turn for the heroes, with the what seems to be a proficiency starting to become true. I recommend this book more then I do The Iron Trial and The Copper Gauntlet, more then I do most of the other books. If I had to tell someone that they could only read one book and recommend the book, I would tell them to choose this one.

The Copper Gauntlet showed the authors ability to truly make a world of magic light up like Tamara's flames. With it's major plot points, Call, Aaron, and Tamara, along with Jasper, it builds not only their character and the world. Showing not only things that it's in the real world, such as different states in USA, but also things like strong elementals that build a history in the Mage world. The mark of a good book is when they can create and history that stretches back generations. However, that's not the best part. Without giving too much away, the conflict between Call and his father becomes what feels like what is truly a conflict between a father and a son should feel like in a story like this. A way for them to fight over conflicting interests in Call's future. I would recommend this book the same way I recommend The Iron Trial.

The Iron Trial was in simple terms, amazing. It truly showed the conflict of what Call originally thought was a force of evil just because of his father's own base views unfold to something that he wanted to continue on with as an apprentice. Not only that, but how it slowly built up with showing how apathetic that Call could be, something that a evil overlord would feel, but how at the same time he could feel things that a normal person can feel like care and fun with his friends. Other all, The Iron Trial is an amazing book and I recommend it to all people who want a good story.

Scythe, at least for me as an individual, was a book that made me mad at it. It was the kind of disgruntled that made me want to keep reading to try and see if I got some sort of satisfaction. While it gave me such satisfaction, it also left me with questions that made me want to read Thunderhead to try and see if these answers are answered. I haven't finished reading Thunderhead, however it has the same effect on me as Scythe had on me when I first started to read it. This is an amazing book and I recommended to not only those who have a taste for this genre, but for those of high reading caliber and low reading caliber.
