The first few episodes may be a bit slow or unclear as to the direction of this story. However, the story is well worth the wait. Episodes 5-10 are some of the most compelling storytelling I've seen in a long time. Beyond touching and painful, particularly as the parent of a young boy, this series has really left a mark on me. I will be thinking about it for quite some time. Well worth the watch and the time investment.

I was very mixed on this film the first time I watched it. However, I just watched the director's cut and came away with a completely different experience. 180 degree difference. This second time watching it I was completely absorbed and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think there is so much nuance and history here that it bears watching a second time, at least that was my experience. Upon the second viewing (again, bear in mind, the much longer director's cut), I would rate 5 out of 5. On the first viewing, I didn't rate but would have given a 2 out of 5. So I'd recommend to give this film another try if you watched it just when it initially came out.

I do not understand the negative reviews at all. I found this show to be engaging, thrilling and overall highly entertaining and interesting. The settings in Colombia and Venezuela added a lot of depth, and I found the acting to be outstanding particularly by Luke Evans. I finished the series roughly a week ago, and I still think about it every day. It really "haunts" my thoughts, especially the very much true-to-life ending. There are a lot of worthwhile messages and themes in the show, and I found it well worth watching. It reminded me of gripping military focused movies from years ago like Black Hawk Down. Just outstanding!
