I don’t even know what I just watched. Part 1 was definitely something. A very bad something. I can’t believe people have been advertising this as a romantic drama. If you want to watch this, think of it as a historical thriller with a subpar and frustrating side romance, that makes no sense and basically goes nowhere (even by ep14 it doesn’t get any better trust). I get that there’s historical and cultural context behind Gil Chae’s decisions sometimes, but I still don’t like the way she’s treated Jang Hyun. I know she hasn’t seen what the audience has seen him do for her and I know he’s not perfect but he’s certainly better than she is, as both a character and a person bloody hell. Also the fact the male lead is head over heels in love with Gil Chae doesn’t make sense to me. Other than the fact she’s pretty, I don’t see too much other stuff for them to be like each other that much. I feel like the context behind the romance is lacking, but I more importantly think the entire show is just 21 episodes of them nearly but still not accepting their feelings for each other. It’s so painfully frustrating.

You know what’s crazy I know these actors can act. I’ve seen Jung Hae In provide a stellar performance before, and I’ve watched Jung So Min have so much chemistry with Seo In Guk in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes that they make guest appearances together in new shows years later. But this isn’t hate toward the actors, it’s hate toward the script or directors because the episodes are just too long and too slow. It feels like nothing is happening and everyone is running around in circles. We got so much of Seunghyo’s pov so we know how much he likes Seok Ryu. But we hardly get any perspective of Seungyho from Seok Ryu’s pov. I’m pretty sure we are shown one glimpse of her when she was a kid saying that she liked him, but that is genuinely it. Like their confessions lacked sincerity and if you’ve watched enough dramas I feel like you can tell they’re just following a script if that makes sense. There’s no casual skinship that a normal real couple would have. And jumping to marriage when we’ve barely even seen them date just feels jarring. It looks like Seok Ryu is just reluctantly accepting his feelings and only confides the truth when something huge happens to Seunghyo or when it’s convenient for her. Like her confession to this boy that’s been in love with her for years, is simply “I realised I’m bored without you for like a day so we might as well date”. And just the main thing is NOTHING IS HAPPENING IN THIS SHOW. The plot doesn’t move forward and no one learns from their mistakes. The two dads have the most chemistry out of everyone.

I had to watch season 2 in 1.5x speed, I don’t know what I even watched anymore. It feels like the story lacked emotional depth and there was just so much fighting with no substance to the story. I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion but season 1 although not the best thing ever was leagues above this season. It had the time period on its side, spent at least some time getting us to root for the characters and their relationships. I do have to say they really underutilised Wi Ha Joon for being part of the main cast in the first season. I don’t know how Tae Sang essentially became iron man this season. The villains just feel emotionless and not dynamic in the slightest. And NOTHING is explained properly, I feel like they relied on a lot of telling instead of showing what happened during the past 80 years. In a summary, the story just feels monotone and I can’t believe we’re gonna have another season of this 😭

I really did enjoy this drama, despite the fact that there were no extremely dramatic twists or elements of fantasy/horror. It was simple but beautiful at the same time. The leads had brilliant chemistry and in terms of personality they complimented each other perfectly. Neither was too overbearing or too nonchalant, they cared for each other deeply and made me want to fall in love simply so I could have someone who loves me as much as they love each other. I especially liked when the inevitable parting from one another due to a misunderstanding (nearly in every kdrama) they didn’t simply give up or rebound onto someone else. They were determined to fight for that love and really didn’t give up on each other not even for a moment. It’s not an extremely well known drama, but the leads certainly deserve some love and attention for the superb acting! **Won Jin Ah’s kissing is meh to me, seeing as there were so many kiss scenes I wish her kissing skills were a bit better. I think they needed to be deeper🤷🏽‍♀️. Don’t get me wrong I still really enjoy her as an actor and think her skills are really good.

Okay so only 10 episodes have been released so far but I’m freaking loving it at the moment!! These actors are quite new to the drama scene as far as I’m aware and they’re doing a really great job of bringing this show to life. It’s one of those all-rounder dramas that has cutesy romance, thrills, mystery, comedy and fantasy (in a sense at least). Definitely worth the hype it will get and I hope the actors get recognised and praised for their work on this show and act in many more dramas to come. You know it’s a good drama when you’re hooked from the first episode and literally can physically wait another week to find out more. :)

If I’m being honest, I don’t know what to say. It was entertaining, there were some really funny moments that keep you entertained and the casting for this is pretty spot on, but.... You can’t have a single episode without Cha Eun Sang crying, it’s pretty frustrating to watch. The wrist grabbing and yanking Eun Sang by the shoulders is irritating as well. Kim Tan is borderline possessive of his girlfriend, she’s not allowed to tlk to other guys or be with anyone else except for him.He literally says “listen to me and wait for me and go when I tell you to” obviously those aren’t his exact words but it just seems a bit much for a high schooler. I loved it but I hated parts of it at the same time which is really hard to explain. There were good things too, but for me it was the characters that made the show, everyone except the female lead. The kiss scenes were pretty bad, it’s so awkward watching Eun Sang standing there with fish lips and not doing anything. Okay I may have complained a lot but I do really adore Lee Min Ho as an actor. He’s just so handsome and charismatic anyone he acts with you will immediately ship with him it’s insane, pretty sure that’s a talent. The OST for this show is so addicting I genuinely listen to it every day and I watched this months ago! The other actors in this show are really popular nowadays it’s pretty much an all star cast. Despite everything there are still shows out there that are a lot worse than this and if I’m honest I still watched the whole thing so that has to say something. It’s still really interesting to watch, ofc there are things I would change but the same can be said for many shows. I’d still give this show a shot because I think it’s worth the watch💖 Urrgggh, I don’t know I still watched it and the show gave me a satisfying ending I just needed to say what was on my mind.

This is the most frustrating drama ever! You want the lead to end up with a certain person but it just goes completely the other way. The girl he ends up with is so annoying and contributes nothing to the show. You won’t get the ending you want if you watch this show. The lead has more chemistry with the 2nd lead, but still desperately clings to the lead girl who doesn’t really do much. 😐 Yes I do agree that Lee Jong Suk is a great actors and every role he’s given he plays well and he does portray his character well. The storyline is quite interesting but it gets a bit lost along the way as the big secret and things you want to find out, aren’t as dramatic as you’d want them to be. It’s really hard trying to summarise the show without giving away key plot details which is why this may seem vague. The main thing that just irritates me is all the hope and anticipation you put into the 2nd lead and LJS and it doesnt happen! Oh my god I’ll never get over that🙄. But if you are a fan of LJS and want to check out his other shows try W and While you were sleeping. They are REALLY good.
