Despite excellent acting, I find the programme contrived and the plot rather silly. The characters from the Dickens novels are placed in unrealistic and unbelievable situations. I find the whole thing rather irritating and trite. I am struggling to find the impetus to watch any more of it.

Unusual crime mystery. Rather violent but thought provoking. Keeps you guessing.

I love it. So great that it is not dubbed as the Italian language is so expressive and could not be copied satisfactorily in English. The characters are larger than life and even minor ones could only be Italian. I am enjoying watching the box set on BBC iPlayer. Each episode is well worth watching again. The scenery and photography are outstanding. Maybe the ladies are a bit too beautiful to be true but it all comes together as a real treat every time.

Sexually explicit violent content. Characters unsympathetic and unconvincing. Gave up after 3 episodes.
