Every student of Indian history as well as Ayurveda should read this book. It was written by a King, who was a medical practitioner trained in both ancient and modern methods. Exceptionally well read and spiritually and culturally aware.
The book summarises a lot about how Ayurveda was part of the Hindu way of life. What i found interesting was the author's subtle way in denying the Aryan migration theory, his presentation of the various surgical instruments used by Ayurvedic practitioners.
He also says that the Vaidyas of older days were so good at their herbalist approach that it was only for a few cases that surgical intervention was really done. And yet, they had more than 150 instruments.
I will not reveal more. Read this book to know:)
