Die Nibelungen by Fritz Lang was the world's best silent movie for 1924. Like his countryman Richard Wagner, both men were workaholics and demanded and got the best from all actors and cameramen and anyone else who worked on this project. Of particular interest are the special features about the making of this movie. The fire towards the end of the story on disc 2 is brilliant and required the actors to put themselves in harm's way. The dragon and how it was constructed seen early on disc one is phenomenal. All in all a very great film worth buying. What a genius! However, the story is a bit different from Wagner's Ring.
