This movie is a great throwback to the original broadway musical Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Wonderful cast and beautiful songs with a modern spin. If you haven’t seen or do not know of the original, it was a musical that featured people dressed as cats. In this version, people are CGIed with cat parts, while still remaining fundamentally human- the human part being almost uncomfortably obvious. Just as other broadway musicals have been, like from Les Mis where the actors performed as if they were from the French Revolution, all of the actors had tried to embody the spirit of cats. In this version, not all human attributes were ignored which made the message of the movie a little lost in translation. Please overlook this part and focus on the artistry that these artists have strived to produced. In comparison to the first production, they have made a more personal, constructed storyline on each cat. If you do not enjoy musicals, then you may not enjoy this movie.
