I bought this because I got it at a very low price. I don't know what all the other reviewers are talking about, this is the laziest copy & paste Far Cry clone I've seen for everything except graphics. Far Cry 5 at least had this creepiness to it that made you feel like you were liberating real people from a real madman.
It feels like they spent their whole budget on Giancarlo Esposito, an Emmy-award winning villain, one of the best in history IMO, and they just pasted the rest of the FC5 template on to it because that was their whole budget for marketing purposes.
You have the potential to have an actual, modern, guerilla fighting Far Cry. You have a Russian spy who supposedly retired as an arms dealer. What do you get for it? Skills/armor bonuses from collecting charms. Charms. Upgrading your sneakers gives you more armor/skills too? WHY? Sewing together a few leather pads now stops bullets? Why not just use actual weapons and body armor? The weapons were so ridiculous (You do get an FAL but that's the most realistic weapon there is in the game IIRC) that I quit after an hour. It felt like the Narco Road Wildlands DLC meets Just Cause, except without any Wildlands.
The plot to start the game was so transparent it was cringe. And to make it all worse, you can't shoot the speakers out this time around. You have to listen to his 3 or 4 lines ad nauseum.
Once I saw the full weapon/armor/skill tree line-up I was out. This FC has a smaller weapon selection than any other Far Cry there is, aside from Primal (actually I think even Primal had more weapon variety). They could have had every modern weapon they want with no pretext for it this time (or if you want to assume this is a fictional remake of the Cuban Revolution, older guns, but still, just pick any gun that existed back then). No razor boomerangs that somehow come back to you like in Primal, an actual rifle. So easy to do. Upgrade it with mods or materials or barrel quality. Charms and tennis shoes should have nothing to do with this.
This game could have wrote itself (not that all Far Cry and even Ubi games don't already) but I can't remember the last time I quit playing a game after I bought it that I would quality for a refund if it was actually on Steam because it felt like a mash of every Ubi game ever made except they spent all their money on Giancarlo Esposito and graphics and then just ran out of cash.
If this isn't the final nail on the Far Cry franchise, they need to do what they did with Origins and Odyssey and remove the cookie-cutter template aspect of it and make a new RPG from scratch in the same franchise or it's going to die. A Far Cry game is a Far Cry game, but while this was the most relevant and modern and on point politically FC, they had the best villain on TV as their star voice actor, and they had an actual decent premise to go with the whole FC formula for this one, it felt like an arcade game with just really good graphics.
TL:DR: This should have been the easiest FC to make amazing, there was no need to make fantasy weapons/armor this time around, and the whole FC concept fits perfectly with a guerilla revolution, and they still screwed it up. I really can't see anyone buying FC6 after this, just as people had enough of Assassin's Creed after Black Flag couldn't be topped, and Ubi had to go back to the drawing board and actually make a new game for Origins and especially Odyssey.
Ubi, for god's sake, all of your games are the same. If it wasn't clear by now, it's clear now. Wildlands and Odyssey were the best things you did. Stop trying to re-milk the franchise again. Go back to the drawing board.
