Kayla Pool

First couple of episodes were good and it seemed like it was gonna be a cool series but got too stereotypical to me. It’s your typical “chosen one” series. The main character comes from a broken home (an orphanage & an outcast) and never realizes her true powers until later on and now everyone’s after her. The show gets kinda cheesy and I think they had too many “one-liners” making it feel a little forced. I haven’t read the books but I think I would probably like those better. Idk while watching the show, I felt like I could literally guess everything that was gonna happen. Watched until the end still and wasn’t much of a surprise. I am a fan of foreshadowing but I don’t want it to be that easy. I did like the cast though! Very diverse and pretty good acting. I wish they would have given more background on a couple characters but I understand the main focus was Alina. At the end Alina becomes a less likable and I feel like she’s a different person almost? I get people change but I think she could have been stronger. Just my opinion. I’d say watch it for yourself and see how you like it but for me it was just a little too predictable. Also reviews by Maya G and potatoefarmergirl B further down captured what I felt was going on the whole time!!

Really wanted to like this show and honestly i did for an episode or two. However, there are way too many holes in the story. Way too much going on instead of focusing on one good story. Also Nimue has become an unlikable character that pity’s herself way too much. She’s no longer seems relatable or genuine. By the end of the show she seems weaker instead of stronger? Half the time other people are making the decisions for her and when she finally does make a decision it makes you want to pull your hair out because of how stupid it was. So sad because this could’ve been such a good series but I don’t think they took enough time developing the plot or characters. The only character i feel like i know/care about is nimue and i still think her character is HIGHLY underdeveloped. They wasted time with all these sides stories and now it’s confusing. Very messy plot. Felt like we were so close to getting a strong female lead in a magical story but idk just wasn’t there for me :/
