I read this one after reading One of Us is Lying and while I adore Karen M McManus' writing, theres a few things that downgraded the book to 3 stars. Firstly the main issue about a certain death that is mentioned in the first chapter, isnt addressed for more than 10 chapters, there was also few side characters that carried over to help the cohesion within the series. I would have loved for someone like Yumiko to make some sort of appearance. I don't like how the romance all partnered up nicely as I am all for the strong and independents like Addy was at the end of One of Us is Lying and I think the romance in this book was not as well written and too spread out across characters. Finally, the ending was a sort of anticlimactic cliffhanger with a lot of questions unanswered but not a lot of suspense. I also think content warnings of sexual assault, terminal illness, cyber bullying and grooming, terrorism and death could have been issued. I still loved the book and I prefer the universe of Bayview with it rather than without it, from any other author this would have been a good book but considering the standard of One of Us is Lying i dont think this book lives up to McManus' reputation.
