Opening scene made me think of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Legend of the Drunken Master. Was immediately in the mindset that Mulan was updated to reflect their historical fantasy. Entire family loved this so much more than the original cartoon. You don't need a cartoon talking dragon to make Mulan good. I loved the updates to Cricket as well. The well known songs playing in the background as part of the soundtrack gave us goosebumps. Thoroughly enjoyed and wish people gave it a chance for what it is - and not compare it to a cartoon.
