Being a fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise for years now, I can say that I think the movie is extremely faithful to the games (with some creative liberties) and the movie was an all around fun watch.
It’s got a lot of fan service which I really enjoyed, and I personally found most if not all of the characters enjoyable.
I wish Shang Tsung would’ve had a more major role in the movie, but I understand that Bi-Han was kind of the big badass of this film.
I’m going into spoilers now so if you haven’t actually watched the film don’t read any further because if you’re looking for a good, fun, action movie I really do recommend this.
I’m not sure about the plans with Bi-Han, Milena, Kabal, Kano and Goro in the future (if there are any) but if the next movie does follow the games I think seeing a modern version of Noob would be fantastic.
For Goro and the others I’m not sure if they’ll return with some Quan-Chi revenant type storyline, but I would really like to see these villains utilized more. (Especially Milena and Kabal because both have fantastic stories behind them)
Finally, I really hope this movie does well so we can see a faithful version of Shao Kahn, the biggest badass in all of Mortal Kombat. Annihilation did him no justice.
Aside from my thoughts for the future, I really did enjoy the movie and I didn’t find Cole too distracting or annoying which can happen a lot while introducing a main character into an already set in stone plot line. I thought everyone did a great job and I really hope more movies come in the future.
