Let me tell you, I was so excited to watch this movie after I had read the book. The book was absolutely amazing, and I recommend it to everyone. However, this movie does not do the book justice in the SLIGHTEST. First of all, so many of the movie characters lack personality. Jacob and Emma are the blandest of them all. So is Olive, who by the way, is now a teenager when she was like 7 years old in the book. Adding onto Emma’s personality, she serves no purpose to the film other than being Jacob’s love interest. She’s no longer fierce or inspiring, she’s basically like a damsel in distress. Second of all, THEY COMPLETELY SWITCHED EMMA AND OLIVE’S PECULIARITIES. Emma now flies and has to wear chunky boots while Olive lights things on fire. It’s so disappointing. And lastly, THE ENDING. The movie’s ending was extremely confusing and just seemed really odd. Jacob did a bunch of random stuff and went through loops just to get to Emma again, which I guess is sweet, but nothing like the book ending. Wasn’t surprised though. I would’ve probably liked this movie if I hadn’t read the book first, since I wouldn’t have any knowledge about the series, but this movie is an abomination. Don’t waste your time watching this movie if you want something accurate to the book. Would rate this 0 stars if possible.
