West is West is not like East is East. But it is a very good, informative and touching film. One should not expect it to be like East is East. It shows life in rural Pakistan. It shows where George is from and why he is like he is and why there is dissension in his family. It shows a time that's gone by and also still exists in many places. I've lived in India and know this kind of life. It is heartfelt and rich and deserves to be seen and understood. To diss this film just because it's not like East is East is erroneous and shallow thinking. It's not boring. It's more substantial. Just like the first wife touched Elly's heart - you have to have a heart to understand and appreciate different kinds of films
