I don't understand the 5 star reviews .... I can only assume they've never read the books . This is not a patch on the books or the original series. The books were about the lives of a vet and the inhabitants of the surrounding Yorkshire Dales, the colourful characters and day to day living. I feel this series has an awful lot to live upto,overly sentimental(yorkshire folk of the time were less so and living a farming life was very hard) it's what makes the characters in the books and the chemistry and relationship between the actors is almost wooden ..... hopefully it will improve ......
