The Godfather and the sequel/prequel Godfather II are two of the greatest films ever made. Just watched them again for the umpteenth time. Some major themes here - Good v evil The corruption of the innocent (Michael) Fate and destiny. The contrast between Michael and his father, Vito. Vito did what he had to to do to survive. Was Michael's destiny prescribed? Or did he have a choice?

I've just watched the series and also read the Guardian reviews, which were less than complimentary; quote - " this terrible mess is a one-way ticket to Triteland". Sorry, this is pseudo-intellectual snobbery. Yes, the dialogue and the characterisation was a bit clichéd. But when you are dramatising nazis, how can you be anything other than clichéd? Not many shades of grey in nazism. It's more of a mistake to try to present a balanced argument. I would admit that modern debate is binary and lacking in nuance, but for this drama, the message was far more important than the subtleties. Better that your heart is in the right place than your head is in the wrong place.

Understated but extremely powerful. An emotional roller coaster. It continually surprises how evil human beings can be, and also how noble, brave and loving they can be. Nicholas Winton was a true saint.

Did senior Post Office executives know that the Horizon accounting system was faulty? If they did, and they knowingly let innocent sub-postmasters go to prison, then it is just that these executives should go to prison. I doubt if this will ever happen. But it seems that the legal system has very little to do with justice. At the end of the programme, the postmasters won a legal case against the Post Office and were awarded 58 million pounds in compensation. But they were to receive only 12 million pounds (to be shared by 550 postmasters), as 46 million pounds was swallowed up in legal fees. How could the legal fees have cost that much? If lawyers were to charge £200/hr (a guess), that is 230,000 hours. Really??

This is so sharp. If I want to pop to the kitchen to get a drink, I have to pause; I might miss a verbal gem. If I was more anal, I would record the gags and observations in a notebook, so that I could pass them off as my own when I am with my friends. But nah, just sit back with a whisky and enjoy. Genius.

Emotional rollercoaster. The one shot technique is very effective and involving. I felt as though I was a participant in the action. Great acting in the main roles by relative unknowns. The detail in the sets is incredible. I will probably go again.

I have never been so bored in my life. The man to my left was muttering, sighing and fidgeting. My wife fell asleep; I wish I had. There were a few affected titters in the audience. Not real laughter, from those that wanted to give the impression of being cultured. The acting was very good but was wasted talent. A shame as I am normally a fan of Armando Iannucci. Disjointed and poorly written with very little story. A pointless cringeworthy film.

Uplifting, warm feel good fun. Great idea, fantastic music. Loved it.

Demonstrates all that is best in humanity. Hard earned expertise, talent, patience, compassion. The items have fascinating back stories and mean everything to their owners. The empathy and care shown by the experts is lovely to watch. Best show on TV. Understated and peaceful but powerful. An antidote to cynical, vacuous and shouty programmes.
