I really want to like the series. I was excited about this adaptation. The first three episodes were ok yet, I had no time to get use to our group of six people before they are separated and overwhelmed by the world they are in. Every important moment in the series must be highlighted by someone screaming and this is shown in slow motion. What are presented as character moments get lost in bad camera angles and long explanations about things that don’t always convey where the story is at. There are moments when i’m following the scene and rather than allow that scene to continue, they instead chose reaction shots of the actors which kills whatever mood the show is giving us.
Why are we watching most of episode five center around characters that aren’t really important to the story? Why must I be forced to watch torture? Couldn’t we hear screams while Perrin is being tortured as the camera pans away? No I get to watch filet of Perrin? Really? Forget that being a darker episode. Sometimes it more effective to not see something. Ok so we see people mourn because of the loss of a minor character and we see them punching or beating their chests, Does the director think that is enough, I don’t think so because we must get a close up of lan losing it . Again it is in slow motion and the close up was really close. Maybe if I was fifteen this scene might have reached inside me but here I was really uncomfortable. You tubers said it was a major reaction from a beloved character, I was just embarrassed.
