I have watched Black Narcissus on the Criterion Channel. The sets are beautiful but the plot is predictable and like a soap opera. The role played by Jean Simmons might have been more tolerable if an Indian had been cast. Piling brown makeup on a white woman doesn’t make her look Indian, no matter how heavily it is applied
