The movie has pacing problems compounded with a scatter brained plot but is successful in providing action movie fans with what they expected. I can see why people felt that the much of the backstory was frivolous but it humanized Chastain’s character. It was interesting to watch someone normally portrayed as immovable, instead be very flawed and doesn’t try to act like an assassin’s past doesn’t exist like other movies do. The scores on many sites are unnecessarily harsh and do little to show the movies merits. Realistic action scenes and heartfelt/vulnerable moments for a main character that, based on their past actions, they shouldn’t be allowed to have make this movie an enjoyable watch.
