The movie moves much faster than the series, almost at breakneck speed in comparison. After watching the movie twice, I still can't figure out the issue between the dowager countess and the queen's lady in waiting. Nonetheless, it is a an enjoyable film albeit far less believable than even the craziest parts in the series. My grandfather and great grandfather were in service along with my grandmother and it would have been nice to have them around to see this series although that would make my grandfather 133 years old. The impression I have from reading letters and hearing some stories as a very young kid is that life for the servants was far less enjoyable than the servants at Dowton experience, although, maybe some great homes and estates did treat their servants like second class citizens, and not like servants. The actors are as good looking as their acting skills and that makes for a very good time watching this film. A bit sugar coated overall but let yourself go and enjoy. I'm looking forward to the next film.
