4/6/23 Thurs/ " Easter Parade," showcases 3 pre-eminent talent's, from the mid-20th. Century. Astaire/ Garland, & Ann Miller. Each are hilarious, dazzle, & highly entertain as if their lives depended upon it. ( Miller, from reports was in immense pain during filming, as her husband of the time,,,,,,threw her down a flight of stairs,,,,,,,,,????,,,,,,,,,,,( No way to treat a lady.) So, Yea kiddies, these people gave it their all. The basic outline of the film is (uuuhhhh),,,,,,,basic. It's another Arthur Freed, refried recycled, lazy "plot," but, the staff, enliven it, set it on it's feet, & teaches it to dance just as swell as all get out like they all do. You also, catch Garland here right before her downward spiral, & get a strong glimpse of what might have been. She's a legend, regardless, but without the drug/ pill abuse, God Bless only knows how much further this woman could have gone in film- History. We all probably missed out on 5-6 Judy Garland masterpieces that never came into fruition. Maybe, "Over the rainbow 🌈🌈🌈🌈 ( AAARRRGGHHHHHH !!!!!!) Astaire really improves his acting / comedic chop's, as dancing up a crescendo of staircases with Ginger Rogers in his arm's was most definitely out of the question by 1948. ( Much, much too much 1936 by then. Besides, I believe Astaire was 59, by 1948.) 3/31/23 Fri/ 6:22AM/ A Bizarre movie for it's time. It promotes the kind of nihilism that's especially prevalent in Modern America ( circa 2023) although, there's a relentless, cartoony element to all of it's underpinnings of recklessness, aberration's, clinical hostility toward Christianity, ( Islam/ whatever,,,any religion that practice's, faith/ self control/ obedience / honestly etc/ Highly skilfully made, humorous, goofy, intelligent even,,,,( in a narrow way) if you're in your 20's, you'll probably enjoy this Movie.( I did in my 20's, it nearly matched my World View. Children,,,do not follow the pathways I led !!!!) Ultimately, the final product results in absurd, Hollywierdism wrapped in a pretty, shiny bundle. I don't think it's insulting, it isn't particularly dumb, mean or vicious toward the viewer. Just, really, really, really immoral. We're talking Hollywood however, so you could agree that that ideology is probably on ( sub) par with the overwhelming majority of "Class," we've been force fed since the 1980's through the media. Mon/ 7/18/22// 8:45PM// This movie was one of the Hollywood Classic's that are directly responsible ( Hey, it's my story. ) for me not being an engineer or a nuclear phy-cist-cist, today. ( Burp.) Instead of doing my homework, & going the Hell to bed at night, I'd be up at all hr's watching black & White's from the 30's/40's & 50's. ( OH yeah, I'm reflecting on my ill-begotten youth in the 1970's. ) & this Classic was 1 of the leaders of the pack. Years later, after I'd built libraries of Golden-Age Hollywooder's, I still found myself returning to this one. Near 50 yr's, I've never been bored by it, whether I was a boy/ a teenager/ Adult/ middle aged or senior citizen. I understand there's s new "woke," version of this masterpiece out there, starring "woke," actor's, directed by a big name "woke," Director. I'll skip.This to me would be like when Gus Van Sant (????) tried to remake "Psycho," back in the 1990's. ,,,,,, why would you want to do that,,,,,?????,,,, besides Bradley Cooper,,,,???? ( Pardon me, that's my lunch I just lost !!!) I'm a Ty Power guy, so really I just might want to fight you for the desecration. ( Although, yeah I have to admit probably 10 people living in 2022 have ever even heard of this film, so it's not like it wasn't ripe for the pickings. )

Also, you obviously never took a gander at our very own 21st. Cen "Court TV." networks, or that Old School giant " America's most wanted." CLAIMS ADJUSTERS WIPE OUT THEIR OWN FAMILIES FOR MUCH, MUCH LESS THAN INSURANCE CLAIMS !!!! ( It's rare true, but it's far from unheard of. ) // Mz. Stanwycks wig in this feature is a matter of contention among vast fan's. I consulted w/ Ole Babe Ruth from my nether-regions on this subject, & Ole Babe gives Mz. Stanwycks appearance here 2 "UN'S"" UP !!!!! Besides, I've seen pictures of the actual woman this trial is based upon. Let's just say she was NO BARBARA STANWYCK !!!! & leave it at that. // 3:46PM// This is the film where the Legendary Edward G. Robinson transitioned from his 11-12 yr run as 2nd. Top-Dog Warner Bros gangsta to accomplished character actor. A title he'd retain for the next 25 yr's or so of his career. Robinson shows you how it's done by stealing his reduced scenes, creating a reliable film archetype that still flourishes to this day ( M & F) ( Primarily on television. ) & basically stealing the picture if U ask me. Lazy actor Fred McMurray proves once again he can rise to the occasion if he could be properly pushed. McMurray is certainly on top of his game, & unforgettable here. // 10:17PM// Look I'm a big fan of McMurrays "America's Dad," run i grew up on it in the 1960's & 70's. Wilder's focus in the final 1/2 is the close relationship btwn the killer Neff & the investigator Keyes ( McMurray/ Robinson.) Neff's betrayal is heartbreaking. The killing is obviously a " thrill-killing",, on Neffs end, only he never took in2 account that he was killing himself ( & keyes.) ( believe it or not bro's can love each. Other deeply w/out a sexual component.) CANCELLED !!!!!! DON'T 2022, OUR 1944 !!!!! GO HOME !!!! ed.

5/ 29/ 22 1:53PM// Sun // If U love, " It's A Wonderful life," ( I'll bet even Ted Bundy warmed up to "Wonderful life. ",,,,,,,, "Wonderful life," & "Old Sparky.") You'll most likely enjoy this movie. Yeah, it is a Political-Comedy, & most people could give a damned about Politics or Politican's, but this film also, boost the "It," factor, of being a Pre-World War 2, pairing of James Stewart, & Frank Capra facing issues that plauged the Depression-era, " New Deal," social, & Political landscape. This film is equal to, ( if not maybe superior) to "Wonderful life. " 2:06PM// Yes, even in the far away multiverse of 1939, Politicans were corrupt, despicable, hacky cronies. In fact, Nancy Pelosi's dad entered Congress in 1939. Were still choking on the stench from that Cartel 80 + yr's later. Sorta a long-term cancer. (EXTREMELY !!!!) // 2:21PM// Claude Raines specialized in these sorta evil, but charming, charismatic characters in the 1940's. Here, he's once again exceptional. His "Senator Paine," is likeable, enviable even, however, he's also a paid-off corporate serpent constantly on the prowl for lobbyists, & kick-backs. I don't think Raines ever won an Oscar, if so that would be about right. Another legendary Hollywooder past-master, that i don't believe ever won an Oscar. 6/9/22 Thurs / 11:54PM// To get business rollin' this film GIT'S BIZZNESS ROLLIN' !!!!!! It starts off World-Class wham-bam-thank-you, Mame !!!!! Taking absolutely no prisoner's!!!! ( well, beside Scott, & a Hispanic dude.) Randy enters a dirt-bag prairie town, right away the dump lights up like New Years eve in Sarajevo !!!! This is the kinda crazy town that's unmistakably similar to,,,,, well, any bi-Coastal Democrat run Hell Hole in 2022. Damn Movie, U can atleast buy me a drink first. Well, the towns throughly led by low-life's, & 1 of said locales shining light's ( a raging alcoholic w/ a vendetta against ( I'm thinking the meaning of life itself. ) finds itself on the wrong end of our Hispanic Wild, wild West curators 6-piece. From here Scott defends the young man from a sure as a drunk royal beat-down,,,,,,,,,how ???? By taking on part of our young-heroes beat-down for himself. Going in immediately, we realize that Lee is looking 4 controversy, & ignition similar to his masterpiece " Do the right thing " ( which, basically prophesies King, & the L.A. riot's. ) At the X, honestly I paid L.A. riot's nil attention. I was living in Stone Mtn. Georgia ( I am of the race.) & BORED OUT OF MY WIT'S !!!! NO, BABES 4 MILES !!!! DAMN !!!! The boredom of 1992 was the upper-most injustice on my mind in that long past ( Praise the Lord, Almighty) yr.( P.I.A. !!!!)// Anyhoo, I was born in 1961. There should be some rules to adhere to even if U are a comic book movie. What if mid-way through a Batman movie, Batman just suddenly takes off in flight ????? SomeX this Spider-monkey seems less like Spider-man, & more like Spider-God . Nostalgia-bait ???? ( is water wet ????) But done properly, ( as it is here, it's a great ride.) Dunne who "cut her teeth" portraying Upper-Class Sophisticate's, takes an Earth-shaking twist here, portraying a simple mom of a brood hitting their teens. She's utterly convincing in my book, & extrodinarly natural. "Born 2 the part",,,,??? / Mz. Dunne was reported 2 be 50 yr's Old at the X of this shoot, & she does so w/ very little pancake. It is a Wonderful performance. // 1:27PM// Trina ( Ellen Corby) is what we in the Modern Vernacular ( atleast, "Misogynist," "breeder's," like myself) designate A "left-over Woman". She's planning 2 marry a Funeral home Joe, & Aunt Jenny ( Hope Landin.) & Aunt Sigrid( Edith Evanson. Hitchcock reg. So, personally, I'm a Huge fan.) Well, they think naught. A Lg. portion of the film revolves around these characters, so if U have low tolerance, my advice is to spend your Mother's Day afternoon following other pursuits. If precise, ( analytical, even) humorous, sweet character- study doesn't bother U, then c'mon in, the water's fine.// 1:53PM// Does D.I.Stevens get schmaltzy & sentimental here at X's ???? Editor's Tholen Gladden, & Robert Swink offer a unique, fast-paced triangle of cut's, & twist that are artful, & absorbingly breathtaking. The film has that Old George Stevens mastery, that touch that no other Di. ( in my opinion) has ever been able 2 duplicate. A lot of the scenes may seem slow, & meandering, ( I'm watching thru a Modern gaze, too.) but I argue that what U have is the polar opposite. 5/5/ 22// 3:40PM// Here's 1 of those movies, 6-7 yrs ago, upon release, U'd buy the DVD, set it in, break-out the Frito's, & the roast beef sandwich, sit back chill, & let your mind coast for the next 2 hrs of ( relatively) harmless Hollywierd hokum, starring a major Movie star of the era, Pretty, likeable, amusing Ya-da-Ya-da-Ya-da. However,,,,,,,in light of current events, ( Will Smith, & the Oscars,) let's reevaluate this S.O.B. & see if there are any leaks 2 inform the current zeitgeist. such, as,,,,,,WHAT THE HELL, WILL SMITH,,,,????!!!!! // 5:58PM// SMITH HAS THE FRICKIN CHOP'S !!!!! DAMN,,, I FORGOT HOW GOOD THIS GUY IS !!!!! ( Maybe, Jada did, too.) This guy can do the throwback, Cary Grant/ David Niven/ Errol Flynn/ Ronald Coleman business, like putting on an Old jacket. She's personable, gorgeous, funny ( still, w/ the "Jersey," accent from " The Wolf of Wall St.") The two stars have enormous chemistry. // 6:07AM// U, know what ??? We could be on the brink of WW3, ( Thanks, Chairman Joe.) The economy is gonna collapse, let's face it. The Wld's basically going 2 Hell in a hand-basket, but for the run X of this movie, I put all of that out of my mind, & I simply brought the trash the team of this film were selling ( like, the sucker's in the film.) No apologies. I'm having a Great X at the movie's. I thought the film was entertaining in 2015, but I gotta say, it's aged remarkably well. Best Movie of 2015 in retrospect,,,???? RRRIIGGHHTTT,,,,,But, it is surprisingly charming, & very infectious.
