Unfortunately this movie falls under the same disappointing category as Ant Man and the Wasp, with a great premise and a great set up of idea only to be completely squandered by unnecessary jokes, a lack of cohesive story telling and a certain “agenda” to it. It’s not anywhere near as bad as Captain Marvel which is the worst MCU movie made and one of my least favorite movies I’ve ever seen in general. The disappointment in this movie stems from the fact they COULD HAVE made an amazing movie and blew it. The “villain” of this movie is worse than any previous villain and that is saying a lot. They ruined a great comic book villain by taking everything that made them awesome in the comics. Definitely was not worth a 15-16 month delay of release and should have just been released on Disney+. I so badly wanted this movie to be good and was so sad to see it ruined. I don’t think I’ll be seeing another MCU movie until Dr. Strange 2 but I’ll be skipping Eternals and Shang Chi because they already don’t appeal to me at all, and will save the money. I remember thinking at one time that marvel would never make a bad film, but unfortunately that just isn’t the case. With 3 out of the last 5 releases being terrible disappointments since Infinity War (Endgame and Spider-Man 2 being the two GOOD movies), I am not optimistic they’ll course correct and it will only be one disappointing movie after another at this point. Particularly because they will continue to alienate their audience with very obvious “agendas” with what they’re trying to send as a message.
