After the Darjeeling Express, Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs, films i can watch again and again. I waited for Wes Anderson's next move wondering in trepidation and asking myself "Will anymore whimsy and quirky be too much?". I sat through the film and can firmly state, "Yes!".
Its too much Whimsical and Quirky. The right amount, as it was, was reached in The Grand Budapest Hotel. If this is peak Wes Anderson, its too much. Dial it back.
I will rewatch Grand Budapest Hotel and other films of his again and again but not this one. Its so whimsical it borders on, dare i say, silly. And that too just because I love Wes Anderson too much. Sigh!
