Despite its poor reviews, I got a kick out of watching The Kitchen. The cast was stellar and I thought the narrative of women taking back their power was somewhat cathartic. Though I can imagine other, more positive, ways to individuate, these women tapped into power in similar ways as their husbands. Over the years, wise women have come to understand that power is not always about competition and climbing the corporate ladder. They are now starting to tap the power within. But, hey ... we’re talking about 1978 -1979 here. They did the best they could with the tools they had ... and, damn,
if they didn't’ do a bang up job in the midst of a somewhat hopeless situation.
