We re-watched the original Beethoven movie and it's sequel a few days ago. He was so entertained we tracked down the third one. About the best I can say about it was it kept a six year old entertained. Story was goofy, but who cares if it is funny or the characters are charming, unfortunately, the whole thing feels very low rent. Like somebody put it together as fast and cheap with as little thought as possible to make a cheap buck. The action and humor is cartoonish, and not in a good way.

This is the best movie I have seen in some time. Though the trailers portray it as a comedy, and their are certainly some funny moments, I would characterize the movie more as a drama. Paul Giamatti is fantastic as a curmudgeonly old professor. This movie slowly and beautifully unfolds and tells the stories of the main characters. What I call a small movie, in the sense that there is not the usual earth shattering events or ear drum breaking special effects, the future of mankind does hang in the balance, and cancer isn't cured. You just have a few weeks in the life of flawed, believable characters. I am being purposefully vague because, while there is no earth shattering reveal or twist in the movie, part of the enjoyment of the movie is learning more about the characters, their lives, and their developing relationships as it goes along. I often say "worth a watch" but I would say don't miss it if you like movies that actually make you feel and think.

Lots of complaints about this show compared to the original, many saying Raylan wasn't Raylan. However, I think the problem relates more to what's around d Raylan than Raylan himself. The original series revolved around the place in the Appalachian mountains and excellent supporting well written, developed and acted cast of cops and villains. The new show is typical police drama, Olyphant is about the only thing that saves it from being average or below. The villain is ok not great, but the supporting cast of cops doesn't hold a candle to the original show. A weak three stars.

Nothing earth shattering here, but the characters are charming and it keeps moving along for a fun ride. The kind of movie people like to watch and critics generally give bad reviews. If you don't like supernatural stuff, or only like it if it is super heavy duty or hardcore you probably won't like it.

I like old movies, it is not just the story and acting it is the vibe or feel they give off. This one had weird vibe, seemed like it was trying to evoke an earlier time, but just weird. Characters came off as circus or carnival people living and loosely associated on the streets of New York. I rarely turn a film off, but just didn't care about any of the characters, who seemed to be romanticized street people, or understand where it was going. Anyway didn't finish it,so maybe not fair to write a review, but I gave it a chance and it just didn't grab me in any way whatsoever. I am not a Glenn Ford fan, he just doesn't ever seem to have any character or spark, so I am sure that doesn't help.

I like generally like Will Ferrell comedies, good enough to watch over and over again. For some reason it took me a while to get around to seeing this one, and when I finally did, just meh. Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, Elf, I can watch over and over. I could barely sit through this one once. Trying to remember a particularly funny line or scene, I can't.

First let me say that Elizabeth Olsen is an amazing actress. She nails sitcom roles from decades of TV eras. She does grief well, she does vengeance well, not from the series, but from the movie, she delivers two words softly but with more force than you possibly imagine. Thanos, "I don't even know who you are" Wanda, "You will...". I would argue it is much harder to make a superhero from in imaginary country with a dead android husband into a believable character than a more mundane but regular person type of character. Olsen and Bettamy are magic when on screen together, whether they are playing sitcom H & W, or superhero couple. The opening episodes are a bit goofy, and the middle falls a little flat, but the amazing part is how they take what seems to be offbeat nostalgic entertainment for it's own sake and tie it into the storyline of the progressing series as well as the Avengers movies at the end. The whole thing holds together as weird and magical (in the fantastic mesmerizing way, not the wands and brooms kind of way) story, the end makes you see the beginning in a whole new light. Definitely worth a binge or three. It is simply daring and brilliant storing telling. But it would be weird and interesting without Elizabeth Olsen, with her it is engrossing and deeply moving. Olsen and Bettamy are magic on the screen

Chernobyl was both awful and awesome at the same time. Just got done, best bit of TV I have seen in a long time. No need to recap the story, but the details and intracacies shown in the series are amazingly well done.
