They wanted to portray a tiny man who fell forward into every achievement in life, so they did. They chose to push personally held political and social views instead of a historical account of one of the most interesting figures of history.

Are you the type that rolls your eyes at unrealistic events in novels instead of letting them slide? You probably won’t enjoy the book much. The book felt like a cheap teen erotic novel at moments and a young adult level book at nearly all others. The justifications for unrealistic or out-of-character events simply didn’t exist or were not enough to get me to buy in and connect with any characters. The one saving grace of the novel is that a lot of end-of-chapter cliff hangers keep the reader’s attention throughout.
