Ok I played this game. I was nervous for a time. I finished Pokemon Violet and at the time of typing this the DLC has finally been released. I have heard rather negative things about it. But that isn't what I wish to address here.
Is this a kid friendly game? Yes. It sure is. This game sure does hold your hand. It doesn't say what you have to do and yet it does in a way that is subtle. The experience I had with Pokemon Violet wasn't the best.
I had pokemon spawning in walls and cliff faces. Grey corner appearing in the side of my screen (no, there was no issue with my switch and I kid you not. And it usually happened on the right hand side bottom corner). People/ NPCs randomly walking through pokemon battles though mainly in the wild areas.
Also why did Sprigatito have to evolve to be bipedal (Standing on two legs) rather than staying quadrupedal (standing on four legs)? They do this with all the cute cat pokemon (look no further than pokemon Sun/Moon). They had to make some players seem like they were into that kinda thing...FYI im not into that but I like cute cat pokemon all the same.
As for some of the glitches I know people spoke about or have seen on Youtube of those I have only seen the one where non-playable characters walk on through battles. Yes this game has issues. The story is good even if it insisted on holding your hand. The legendary pokemon are well designed. And out of all the gym leaders, Lono suited the theme of the gym battles the most. She for sure left a big impression on me.
Does this mean I will give it a 5 star review? No, i mean it has its flaws but as players get more demanding the quality clearly seems to slip. I won't tell anyone to not get either Violet or scarlet. As I believe this is up to the individual. You can get it and have a fair amount of fun. Long time fans will know what they have to do to get through the game probably. But for me it had its issues. Issues that otherwise made it hard to ignore or look away from pretending that they weren't there. Characters could be annoying for some - it took me ages to beat Lono and it felt at times that I wasn't going to be able to get through the game. Im not sure if it was as good if not better than other titles (i.e Arceus) but it was what it was.
I don't think this title was worthy of 'Triple A Game'. But it was somewhat interesting and fun to play. I think I may trade my copy in soon so that someone else can have a Pokemon experience. Again, its not by any means a terrible game no matter what anyone tells you. Its an experience! Its not fantastic! Its not perfect! Its somewhat fun, entertaining and great for kids wanting to have a pokemon experience or a laugh. And that is okay with me!
