Such a great premise and such a waste of execution.
Is anyone else sick of lazy writing??
The biggest source of suspense in this show is wondering which character is going to lose their shit tonight and get everyone killed.
Who is going to irrationally lash out, freak out, open a window, scream when everyone is trying to be quiet, or find some other creative way to screw up.
If you are a screen writer and you're reading this, CREATE CHARACTERS THAT ARE BELIEVABLE!!! Stop taking the lazy way out and manufacturing suspense with poor decisions that make people want to scream at their TV! Create situational suspense and have characters meet it rationally like a real person might do and see where that takes you!
The reason why "Breaking Bad" was and remains one of the best shows ever is because although Walter's overall decision to become a drug dealer was poor, the way that he handled each suspense-filled crisis that came his way was calm, calculated, and intelligent.
SPOILER: At one point, Boyd magically transports through a tree and ends up in some dungeon, then finds his way back home. When he explains this, his son flips out, thinking he is lying and hiding the truth from him.
REALLY?? You live in a town that won't let you leave and monsters that can't be killed come out at night and eat people alive. A talisman hung on the front door keeps you safe from them.
It's really too much of a stretch to believe your dad because his story is too crazy??
At this moment in the series I decided I could no longer continue watching. I'm done.
"From" had potential, but it was wasted on lazy, tired-ass writing and characters that I didn't care wether they lived or died.
