This was the first movie I saw in a theater since 2019. How wonderful to see such a well made documentary after an eternity of closed cinemas! The editing was fabulous. I feel an Academy Award nomination there.
It was good to see people like Nina Simone and Hugh Masekela that I saw in person. It was also good to see people I had forgotten. The surfacing of those memories was as wonderful as the music.
The only sadness was to be reminded that, 50 years ago, cops were killing black men and black activists were working to end voter discrimination.
