Gilmore Girls is definitely one of those shows which can dangerously become addictive! I’ve read many comments and agree with most of them: it’s fun, comforting, it offers a bit of everything and the cast, the dialogues and references are exceptional! And, like many others, I’ve also watched the show endless numbers of times.
I have a special bond with this show: I saw it when it first came out in 2000 and I was exactly Rory’s age at the time, so I could easily relate to her character and grew up following a similar life arc. Then, when I rewatched it years later again, I was closer to Lorelei’s age and could relate to her much more.
Now, every time I rewatch it, it is something special, almost like a feeling of “being home”!
I love the music, the cultural references that are very much unique to those years and I love the fast- pace dialogues. I totally get on the other hand though that, like many shows from the past, it may lack of certain elements to consider it fully resonant with the present days ( both in the ways characters are portrayed as well as society and issues in general).
HEADS UP, for anyone still watching the first 7 seasons, the reunion is on Netflix too: “ A year in the Life of Gilmore Girls” 10 years exactly from the end of season 7!
DO watch that too!
I know it’s not the same as watching it in real time, after 10 years from the original 7 seasons ( like I did, which meant I had aged with them and, like the characters, I was also settling into the world following a similar process) but it is still worthy and it will leave you with that extra little bit of love and nostalgia for Gilmore Girls.
