Honestly, after reading the book my expectations were very low for the cinematic adaptation, the story had so much detail and charisma, it would be very hard to capture that energy on screen, and unfortunately my prognosis was right. After walking out of the theater, I felt utterly dissatisfied and extremely underwhelmed. Visually it was O.K. I guess, by today's standards. I do not expect movie adaptations to follow its original source to a tee, but judging this film without prior knowledge of the book, I do believe that I still would think the story is predictable, bland, and painstakingly boring. Ready Player One is my favorite book on the planet, with some of the most well written, heart-warming characters in the history of literature, but I absolutely could not connect with these dull, modified ones. Spielberg took no risks in the rewriting of this, therefore making the entirety of the two hours and nineteen minutes feel like a Hallmark TV special. Overall, I did not like this movie, nor would I ever recommend it to ANYONE. 3/10
