I've been searching for credible answers to this "so-called" murder mystery for years. I've tried to keep an open mind always but the sheer volume of material out there in the public domain that is not thoroughly researched is incredible.
Chris's book is based on factual evidence, not assumptions from what we have heard or accepted to be the truth over the past 50 years!
His analytical and thorough approach is what was needed to clear this case up once and for all.
I found it intriguing that he disguised the (I fed the baby) woman's identity by offsetting her date of birth by 12 months or so too!
I have very few questions remaining. I really enjoyed this book as it dispels all the village gossip, and doesn't get bogged down in evidence that was clearly fabricated either.
For me there was never an axle attached to Harvey Crewe's body (indeed it was never mentioned by the Police until much further down the track).
Len Demler is perfectly captured by Chris Birt. He was a dangerous man, and his quest to live a very selfish life with his mistress knew no bounds. Why the NZ Police never formally interviewed Norma Eastman I will never know.
Full marks Chris on a great book
