I think this drama is well made in a slow-paced, thought provoking way. It realistically depicts the complex social and emotional weave of dating and maneuvering a couple’s path to marriage in a conservative Korean society. I am also Korean and watching this drama made me cringe with all the saving face comments, white lies, heavy sighs, silence between conversations, and mind-boggling guessing of what the other person is thinking. However this is the Korea I remember a decade ago when I left. I had to look up the year this drama was made because I though it was made in the early 2000s, but apparently not much has progressed in the area of being honest with emotions and to yourself due to societal and/or cultural stigma. This drama was indeed made in 2019. Although it is a well made drama, it is seriously frustrating to watch that this is a slice of what really “still” happens in modern Korean society. Thankfully, not all Koreans date or get to know people this way. Even amongst Koreans, these characters only reflect a percentage ( I would easily say 20-30%) of how middle to upper-middle class Koreans date and get married.
