Experiencing this movie in theatres with their sound system and screen sizes is a MUST!
By far my favourite movie I have watched in theatres of all time. I highly recommend this film. I thought I would get bored with the three hour runtime and was surprised to enjoy everything about this movie. The cinematography, sound design and acting was impeccable. Amazing historical narrative described perfectly in this film medium.
spoilers:
I loved how it displayed the dilemma that the atomic bomb brought to scientists, the military and politicians. It was also interesting how the movie displayed the dichotomy between these three groups in their moral views towards dropping the bombs. I was also glad the movie addressed the horror the bombs caused for the Japanese people and didn’t just be patriotic Americans. It’s also interesting how the movie addresses modern warfare in that the threat of nuclear war is ever present especially after the creation of atomic and hydrogen bombs. I didn’t walk into the movie expecting to be moved by the film, but surprisingly was. The emotional in the movie was overwhelming as supporting through amazing acting, visual effects and the power of (and lack of) sound.
