CALL OF DUTY IS BACK!!!
DON’T LISTEN TO THE HATERS!!!
WARNING: Yes, this is a long, wordy, and in-depth review, with a few random non sequitur digressions along the way...But I do have a lot to say about the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which will only get even better with future patches and updates. I play on an Xbox One X, 70” 4K HDR TV, with 5.1 Surround Sound, or Dolby Atmos if using my headphones.
Okay, now my review. THIS is my favorite COD game in a long time. While I did enjoy WW2 somewhat, it’s nothing like how I am enjoying the new Modern Warfare. Yes, there are a lot of negative reviews out there. I warn you though, those reviews would mostly be from very salty players, who don’t know how to adjust to various styles of gameplay. I, myself, have enjoyed both the campaign and multiplayer options on the new Modern Warfare thus far.
The multiplayer can take some time adjusting to, as you just can’t run n’ gun on EVERY...SINGLE...MAP, which is far more realistic than most war related games. Call of Duty, with it’s recent releases, had fallen into that trap...everything was designed around run n’ gun. There was nothing tactical about the gameplay. See players, let me state the obvious here, the game is set up so that you have multiple load out options, 5 to be exact. This way you have multiple choices depending on whatever map/game you end up playing on.
Some maps are just perfect for a run n’ gun style of play, while other maps will take more of a strategic style of game play. So noob 12 year olds who just got the game for Christmas, and whiny old timers who expect the same old COD from their glorious PS2 days, YOU will need to learn to adapt. War is not all run n’ gun, sometimes you need set back, set up shop, and fight from the shadows.
And the new Modern Warfare, allows for all styles of play, from run n’ gun to being a stealthy sniper, and everything in between. The only negatives I can say about multiplayer so far is...the re-spawning needs to be worked on, and of course getting rid of all the hackers out there, which I am sure will come with time.
You have to remember, for every ONE employee combating hackers for the gaming company, there are 500 basement dwelling hackers cheating the system. Instead of taking showers and foregoing additional personal hygiene options, they do nothing but hack and cheat 24 hours a day, and possibly relieve themselves in adult diapers.
Sorry for the digression, now back to the actual game review. One of my favorite parts of the new Modern Warfare are the adjustments and personal control over weapon customization. Besides just having NUMEROUS weapons to choose from, you also have complete control over those weapons. Different scopes, useful stocks and grips, various attachments and plenty of extra perks to match your own personal style of play.
Seriously, if you are a COD fan at all, give this one a try. Don’t listen to the losers whining and just wanting their money back. Just know you can’t run n’ gun every map. You actually have to play with more strategy in the Modern Warfare, and I am more than fine with that.
And some great things of note that have changed with the newest release. No more battle crates and hoping you get something good in it. No more micro transactions for everything. Don’t get me wrong, you can by COD points and spend them like crazy, but you don’t have to in order to compete and get new guns. And all future DLC, Maps, Etc, are going to be included, and will not have to be purchased separately. That way everyone who plays will all have the same maps, and in turn, that will make matchmaking that much smoother.
