I must declare that I am a royalist so I was eager to watch this series anyway. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every episode and always eager to see the next one. I thought I’d be watching it on my own but my husband has enjoyed it too.
The Crown takes you on the journey of Elizabeth II through the decades which I understand to be ‘almost’ factual and very informative. There isn’t one setting that isn’t convincing. I would swear they actually filmed in Buckingham Palace- incredible!
Claire Foy was superb in the role as young Queen and I was dubious about the role passing to Olivia Coleman. Nothing to worry about, she is equally superb and convincing as the older Queen. All the main characters portray their role in an extremely convincing way. If I was slightly disappointed in one it would be the Queen Mother in series 3. She doesn’t have the ‘wow’ factor in my opinion, a little less convincing than all the others but this is a minor point and I’m yet to see the Diana episode so she may yet change my opinion. All in all a phenomenal and compelling to watch, series.
