The story is touching as it tells the story of mother who divorced a dead beat husband. And is representation of Autism in media. An authentic representation of it and the struggles which a child with Autism would go through. My personal opinion is that I hate people calling autism a disability or handicap. What it really is neurodiversity which means the way an individual thinks and processes the world is different from the majority. Yes a child does need to watched over more but that is because they are a child and they need guidance in life as they have no experience. Until they have sufficient experience for independence they need guidance. But just because the guidance they need is different from what majority of kids need doesn’t mean any child with autism is any less capable of achieving something which can be seen as distinguishing.
