Dave Evans in another review here said it best. In short form, Season 5 sux and, in my opinion, the worst season of this show. I want to say I have really loved this show until Season 5. Season 5, to me, seems like a money grab by dragging show out without pushing the series forward any. The season starts with Naomi trying to get to her son and the issues she has with the father(Marco). This and Marco trying to join the different factions of Belters, yet there is very little screen time with any people who make up any of these factions(or interactions to actually bring the factions together). The son thing carries on until episode 8 or so where Naomi finally escapes her imprisonment by Marco. This whole thing could have been wrapped up in 2 episodes. There is virtually nothing about the Ring itself or the many explorations that could have spawned from that whole part of the series. The whole season is very lackluster at best(unless something greatly changes in ep 9 or ep 10). The whole season can be broke down into Amos basically breaks Clarissa out of jail(very small part). Naomi finds her son and the father is trying to start a war with Earth and Mars(the inners). Another point that Dave brought up was the complete lack of interaction with the main characters in real life settings(it was mostly done over video calls). Maybe this season was because the whole Covid thing going on. It would have been much better to push the season back than to release the steaming pile they tried to pass off as a season. I suspect, like said earlier, this was to get something out the door and for people to get paid; that's it. Very disappointing...

I like the series, but not the main character much. It is a combination of her acting and how the script was written for the character. In every episode you could expect the main character to cry. It seemed more like a crutch than trying to pull you in with genuine emotion. The situations held merit on their own without trying to force an emotional response from the viewer through repeated crying from the main char. There was no need for the char to cry as much as they did and ended up making the char feel fake or over-acting. The camera work used or either actress also would hold her emotional expressions to long for many of her responses, not just crying. I want to give this actress the benefit of the doubt, but her acting felt fake to me. This series of Star Trek also seems to follow the new formula of a movie split into a bunch of episodes instead of a bunch of stories that follow a certain arc. The old Trek you could sit down an episode or 2 and get some enjoyment without worrying about the greater storyline so much(each episode stood on it's own). It's why most of the old Treks have so much replayability and why I don't see this series going down as one of the greats.
