Dave Evans in another review here said it best. In short form, Season 5 sux and, in my opinion, the worst season of this show.
I want to say I have really loved this show until Season 5. Season 5, to me, seems like a money grab by dragging show out without pushing the series forward any. The season starts with Naomi trying to get to her son and the issues she has with the father(Marco). This and Marco trying to join the different factions of Belters, yet there is very little screen time with any people who make up any of these factions(or interactions to actually bring the factions together). The son thing carries on until episode 8 or so where Naomi finally escapes her imprisonment by Marco. This whole thing could have been wrapped up in 2 episodes.
There is virtually nothing about the Ring itself or the many explorations that could have spawned from that whole part of the series. The whole season is very lackluster at best(unless something greatly changes in ep 9 or ep 10).
The whole season can be broke down into Amos basically breaks Clarissa out of jail(very small part). Naomi finds her son and the father is trying to start a war with Earth and Mars(the inners). Another point that Dave brought up was the complete lack of interaction with the main characters in real life settings(it was mostly done over video calls).
Maybe this season was because the whole Covid thing going on. It would have been much better to push the season back than to release the steaming pile they tried to pass off as a season. I suspect, like said earlier, this was to get something out the door and for people to get paid; that's it. Very disappointing...
